Information About Bishop's Badminton Club

Club History

Bishop's Badminton club was formed way back in 1991. The original members played at Worcester Technical College when the college used to run recreational evening classes at the main college building in Deansway and later at Bishop Perowne High School. Eventually the college fees became too expensive and numbers started to dwindle so we looked at starting a regular club ourselves.

We found that we could hire the badminton courts at Bishop Perowne High School directly and our club was then founded. The name "Bishop's Badminton" obviously derives from the fact the club started playing at Bishop Perowne High School, not because we wear silly hats!

Unfortunately, we were only able to hire the whole of the hall at Bishop Perowne school which included four courts. We soon found that we were unable to fill four courts on a regular basis so we needed to find another venue - Nunnery Wood Sports centre was an obvious choice and we have been playing there ever since.
